My first day in Costa Rica started pretty early at 8 am and that has not changed until now because you just feel energized here. I made some breakfast and wrote my last blog. Shortly after that I went down the hill to see Lisa, the swedish girl, at the beach. I was lucky that a guy asked if he could drop me off somewhere so I just went for it. It was kind of weird at first because I did not know him but I guessed that it was normal here. The problem was that he did not understand where to drop me off so I landed at the wrong beach which is 2km away from the other beach. But I stayed calm and started walking until I came to the end of the beach where I just saw a forest. I asked a woman if there was a way through it to get to the other beach. This was her answer: “Yes there is one but you have to be careful because recently a girl got raped there. But don’t worry, just take a stone with you and you will be fine.” At first I looked at her like she was out of her mind but then I decided to just do it. Nothing happend of course.
I met Lisa and we enjoyed some time at the beach but because the weather was not that nice we decided to find the new cafe two guys opened that Lisa met the night before at the party. Well it was a looong walk- into the wrong direction of course. But an Asian guy picked us up and brought us to a centre you can say where we had lunch with him.
A whole meal for 5 dollars!
Chung, a nice guy from New York that wants to get out of the big city life
But in general you can’t really say that this place has a centre. There are two or three places with more restaurants, bars but mostly everything is spread.
After that we finally got to the cafe where I met Paulo, Felipe and Teto (who was the guy from the car that I stopped when we came here). There place is adorable. It’s an old big van that they transformed into a cute cafe.
The Cafe from the inside
Tetos dog which is the cutest little baby I’ve ever seen!
Three cafes later we went to the beach- finally! And I can just say that it is amazing there, you have perfect smooth and controlled waves and a Long beach.
On wednesday Lisa and I decided to shop for some grocerys and get to a bank so we started walking into the hopefully right direction. We thought we would be lucky again and that someone would pick us up but no we walked a lot through the rain. And I just want to mention that the rain here is hella strong you get really wet. But some guys took us with them on their transporter you could say. So we ended up at the back of a transporter that was meant for animals, staying in dirt. Oh and not to mention there was no roof so yeah…. The grocery shopping went well but I realized how expensive this town is. 6 dollars for soymilk! On the way back we were lucky again that two nice guys drove us back…
And that pretty much were my first two days that were pretty exciting and new to me because I did not plan anything, it just happens and I guess this is a big part of the lifestyle around here.
Pura vida a todos!
